Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course aims to bridge the gap between theoretical textbooks and the "real world" of the scientist who uses optical instruments and detectors. Examples are drawn from the teacher's experience in universities and in industry. Students may influence the choice of special topics, and questions from students are welcome during lectures.
Assessment and permitted materials
Every two or three lectures, homework will be assigned that requires calculations and derivations from material of the previous lectures. There will be a total of 5-7 assignments.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
At least four homework assignments must be submitted in order to receive a grade. For the best grade, all homeworks must be completed.
Examination topics
There is no separate exam for the course. Only the homeworks are required.
Reading list
There is no required textbook, but recommendations will be made during lectures.
