Aims, contents and method of the course

Objects have reached a new interest in anthropology. When dealing with objects, an often practiced differentiation is done between its materiality and symbolism. this seminar discusses apporaches to the thing, and possibilities to go beyond the materiality::symbolism divide.

Assessment and permitted materials

Marking
- Active participation in discussions: 20%
- Final presentation: 30%
- Fii - Final Paper: 50%
1) Production of a Paper (3.000 to 4.000 words per student, incl. footnotes and bibliography)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active participation, final paper, and final presentation each need to be positicely assessed.
