Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
There will be an exam at the end of the Semester.
The exam duration is 90 minutes.
There will be a few essay questions given, and all of them must be answered. The maximum score achievable is 100 points.
The grading scale is as follows:
1: 100-92
2: 75-91
3: 59-74
4: 50-58
5: 0-49

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In order to pass the exam and therefore the class more than half of the points must be reached in the final exam.
Examination topics
The exam will test a comprehensive understanding of the topics discussed in class. It is necessary to have read the assigned literature and followed the lectures.
Reading list
Literature will be assigned to each lecture, to be downloaded from the moodle course.

ACHTUNG: Manche Einheiten werden auf Englisch stattfinden, der Großteil der LV wird jedoch auf Deutsch stattfinden.The lecture is an introduction to the MA program in Political Science. The aim of the lecture is for students to become familiar with those areas of the Institute of Political Science that represent a critical, socio-theoretical approach to political science. These include political theory, gender studies, interpretive and comparative policy analysis, as well as international relations. In the lecture, representatives of these four units at the Institute of Political Science will introduce the areas based on current debates and also discuss the critical approach to political problems.
In addition to the inputs from the presenters, reading the texts is central.
