Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This is an introduction to the philosophy of teaching ethics. The contribution of the field of ethics as a philosophical discipline to education will be our central concern. We will approach questions such as: Should ethics be taught (and where)? Which are the contents that should be taught, and which criteria help us to identify them? Does learning or teaching require a special method when our subject is related to ethics?
Assessment and permitted materials
- Weekly assignment (roughly a page) plus oral exam (20 mins) at the end of the term.
- You will sometimes receive written feedback for your weekly assignment.
- You will sometimes receive written feedback for your weekly assignment.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Attendance is a necessary condition for passing this course. You are allowed to miss three classes. By the end of the term, you will be asked to choose nine of your weekly assignments which will then be graded. Each counts 5 percent. The remaining 55 percent of your grade come from the oral exam.
Examination topics
The questions for the weekly assignment and your individual feedback will prepare you for the oral exam.
Reading list
You will find the reading assignments on Moodle before the semester starts.
