Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Within the geographical and temporal scope of the course, various aspects of history and types of sources will be touched on. The aim is not a comprehensive introductory survey but problem-oriented exemplary insights into several areas of research and their typical sources. These areas include political and constitutional history, social history, gender history, history of criminality, religious history, history of education and economic history. Goals include understanding the contents of the selected texts, awareness of some important reference works on modern Austrian history, the comprehension and critical review of scholarly writing and the reading and discussion of sources. These will be practiced both orally and in writing.
