Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Goals:
• To extend and deepen knowledge and understanding of research process in Social Sciences, and particularly in Education;
• To gain and discuss basic information on the “Science as an Institution” idea — “Scientific Knowledge”, “Scientific Conventions”, “Academic research databases”, etc.;
• To improve the techniques of critical reading, discussing, presenting other people’s research (as well as to reflect and develop a critical view on: a) scientific research in general and/or b) how to use it in practice), and writing your own research-related narrative;
• To look for and formulate own research problems/questions, to develop an analytic approach to teaching.

The course aims to provide students with general knowledge necessary to achieve the above goals. Thus, the focus is on talking about the scientific method, finding and reading scientific literature and discussing it orally and in writing. Particular attention is paid to the possibilities and specifics of transferring academic knowledge into one's own pedagogical practice.
